Transforming Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) Design with KREODx Integrated DfMA Intelligent Automation (KIDIA)!
At KREODx, we are in the process of developing Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) design and engineering automation, a significant step towards making this modern construction method more accessible and cost-effective.
Over the past few years, we have strongly advocated LGSF for our residential projects. Its efficiency, precision, and sustainability make it a superior choice. However, despite the potential for reducing overall construction costs, many clients have been deterred by the high engineering fees, which are often twice as expensive as traditional engineering design. This cost barrier has limited wider adoption, even though the long-term benefits are clear.
As part of our commitment to innovation, we are developing KREODx Integrated DfMA Intelligent Automation (KIDIA), an advanced solution designed to streamline the entire LGSF process. This technology will be available to architects, engineers, and fabricators, empowering them to leverage automation for:
✅ Framing automation: Rapid and accurate generation of steel frame models
✅ Shop drawing automation: Efficient production of detailed construction documentation
✅ Manufacturing code generation: Direct integration with LGSF machines such as Hawick machines, reducing manual input and errors
To further accelerate this vision, we are in the early stages of discussions with a couple of engineering software companies to explore the possibility of co-developing an engineering automation plugin for KREODx. This collaboration could enhance automation capabilities and improve efficiency across the LGSF design and manufacturing process.
By eliminating inefficiencies and lowering engineering costs, we aim to unlock the full potential of LGSF, making it a viable option for more projects.
